Bodega Bay is the fishingsportsman's gateway to some of the best fisheries on the West Coast and we offer Bodega Bay fishing at its finest.
25 miles west of the harbor is the legendary Cordell Banks, an area several miles wide by 7 miles long that rises up from the depths to 250/300 feet. This unique underwater plateau hosts an impressive variety of species that are usually plentiful and excellent eating. This is the premier area for big lingcod, bocaccio, and canary rock cod. Because of the travel time required to reach these areas, favorable seas are a must. So to make sure your Bodega Bay fishing adventure is the best it can be make sure to check the weather and ocean conditions before arrival.
All day fishing charters are available for $65 per person. All Rock cod/Ling cod tackle are 2 hooks maximum, 1 hook can be a bar with a treble hook.
Tackle is available on all charters and rod/reel rental is available for $7.50 per person. All catches are stored on shaved ice to maxmize freshness and quailty. Filleting and vacuum sealing are available before leaving the dock at the end of the day. Arrangements can be made to have your catch smoked and/or shipped anywhere in the continental U.S.
From Ten Mile Beach south of Bodega Bay to the Russian River 15 miles north, is the area where the King Salmon are found from mid April through late summer. Several methods of fishing are popular, with trolling bait or lures being the best producers. Our season starts on the 14th of April and lasts through September. Limit is 2 per person, 24" minimum length.
Dungeness Crab season starts in early November and runs through June. Our most popular charter for crabs is to fish for rock cod half of the day, travel into the sandy areas where our pots are located, and pull pots for the remaining time. This rock cod/crab combo usually sends the sportsman home with some world class sea food.
Albacore fishing fever is usually seen everywhere. The swimming bullets are awesome to catch, no limit, and are excellent eating. Because of the need to travel 30-40 miles off shore in search of these fish, our passenger size is restricted to 10 hardy enthusiasts.
From January until the end of April we offer Whale watching.
The 2000-2001 season was an outstanding for watching these giants parade past our port on their way south. Hundreds of guests were able to observe several species of these huge mammals, including the Orca - a testament to the unusually cold water along our coast this year. Several times we were able to maneuver the boat so as to see a cow and calf within arms reach. This is one of the fasest growing family activities in California and one that imparts a renewed sense of respect for the awesome varibility of our ocean.
